The Department of English was established under the School of Arts with an objective to provide students with sound knowledge of English language and literature and develop their academic knowledge and skill in the field of arts and literature. From the very initial days of its establishment, it has been able to attract the meritorious students of the country.

At present, the department offers two programs: B.A.(Hons.) in English and M.A. in English.

The department is enriched with highly experienced and qualified faculty members having degrees from home and abroad. At present the department is manned by all full time faculty members including full Professors and Associate Professors.
