The Department of Islamic History and Civilization was established under the School of Arts with an objective to provide an understanding of historical forces which have led to the contemporary Muslim civilization and culture. It would make an effort to relate the present state of the Islamic Ummah with its past and to look into future possibilities and also prepare the students so that they can adjust to the reality of contemporary world facing multi-dimensional issues. From the very initial days of its establishment, it has been able to attract the meritorious students of the country.

At present, the department offers two programs: B.A.(Hons.) in Islamic History and Civilization and M.A. in Islamic History and Civilization .

The department is enriched with highly qualified faculties with Ph.D. and Masters degree from reputed universities of home and abroad
