The Department of Bengali was established under the School of Arts with an objective to provide studentds with sound foundation in Bengali language and literature and develop their academic knowledge and skill in the field of Arts and literature to prepare them to adjust to the reality of contemporary world facing multi-dimensional issues. From the very initial days of its establishment, it has been able to attract the meritorious students of the country.

At present, the department offers two programs: B.A.(Hons.) in Bengali and M.A. in Bengali .

The department is enriched with highly qualified faculties with Ph.D. and Masters degree from reputed universities of home and abroad
